Alsterschwimmhalle Hamburg, Germany

As one of Hamburg's landmarks and officially the largest swimming pool in the Hanseatic city, the Alsterschwimmhalle has been shining in new splendour since autumn 2023 after several years of modernisation. Since the reopening, our EN-54-24 certified voice alarm system has ensured safety and comprehensive communication in the modern indoor swimming pool.

The Reinbek-based system house Mediasystem, a long-standing customer and partner of TOA, was commissioned to install the voice alarm and public address technology and, as the voice alarm centre, specially adapted the VX-3000 system to the demanding acoustics of the hall. A high level of speech intelligibility is achieved through integrated sound lines, which score highly in buildings prone to reverberation, such as swimming pools, thanks to their special radiation characteristics.

The Mediasystem GmbH system house supplies comprehensive system solutions in the fields of voice alarm, emergency, and hazard response systems, as well as public address, video and conference technology. Our partner was responsible for the planning, installation, integration, and programming of the system. The challenge in this project, in addition to the acoustic conditions, was working in compliance with the building's listed status.

An external sound system provides the right background and event sound and is directly connected to the voice alarm system, so that in the event of a dangerous situation, the guests of the swimming pool can be reached immediately and via all loudspeakers in all areas of the hall. To ensure that the system is always ready for use, an external emergency power supply was connected.
