Stage Theater an der Elbe, Hamburg, Germany

The Stage Theater in the Elbe is a musical theatre of the Stage Entertainment Group in Hamburg's Steinwerder district. Since 2014, the venue has been welcoming guests in a prime location with a panoramic view of Hamburg's harbour.

The theatre itself is also an eye-catcher: The modern architecture, spacious foyer with open gallery, glass façade and stylish bars provide the perfect setting for an unforgettable musical experience for up to 1,850 guests.

As part of a modernisation, the Stage Theater commissioned our partner, Mediasystem GmbH, to renew the voice alarm system and supplement the existing loudspeaker groups. The old system was replaced by a new voice alarm system from TOA, the VX 3000 system, which is used throughout the building and outside in the event of an emergency and provides background announcements, stage manager calls and announcements on a day-to-day basis.

Therewith the theatre's voice alarm system is state of the art again and complies with the current VDE 0833 standard.

The Mediasystem GmbH system house supplies comprehensive system solutions in the fields of voice alarm, emergency and hazard response systems, as well as public address, video and conference technology. Our partner was responsible for the planning, installation, integration and programming of the central technology. Indoors, the system was connected to the existing infrastructure. Different announcement texts are played out depending on the situation.

In addition, loudspeakers with individual volume controls were installed in the artists' area, which are used as a stage management call system: The live sound from the theatre is broadcast to the artists' area via the voice alarm centre so that the performers can always follow what is happening on stage.

Two horn array loudspeakers were installed in the outdoor area. These are usually used on runways and ski slopes, as they guarantee high speech intelligibility even in windy conditions and with loud background noise and can cover up to 600 metres - ideal conditions for an area in the immediate vicinity of shipping traffic and industrial plants and where the audiences of two theatres spend their breaks.
